It is thought that after returning from Lankapuri, Lord Sri Rama resided here with Sita and Lakshmana. In the 5th century AD, the town rose to prominence as a Vaishnavite center and was highly regarded by Alvars. The Vaishnavite sage Ramanujacharya codified the temple rituals in the eleventh century AD. Following that, Tirupati withstood the invasions of the British and Muslims, when the deity of the Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple, Srirangam, was moved to Tirupati for safekeeping.Numerous kingdoms contributed to the construction and renovation of the temple. Tamil, Sanskrit, Kannada, and Telugu are the languages used in the temple's inscriptions. The Tirumala Venkateswara Temple was turned over to Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams in 1932 as part of the TTD Act. 2006 saw the TTD and TUDA (Tirupati Urban Development Authority)
